Phyllis Ann Couch

Phyllis Ann Couch, age 76, passed away peacefully on June 6, 2024, after a brave battle with dementia at Croixdale Memory Care in Bayport, MN where she was a resident for four years.

Phyllis was born on October 16, 1947, in River Falls, Wisconsin to Henry and Hazel (James) Couch. She graduated from Hudson High School in 1965 and continued her education at St. Paul VoTec and IBM Education Center. After high school she worked for Doboy Packaging and Gould Inc.

In 1977 Phyllis relocated from Hudson to the Eau Claire/Chippewa Falls area and remained there until 2006 where she worked for Johnson Plastics and Kell Container.

In 1988 Phyllis began dabbling in stain glass which led to her selling her art at area craft shows. Who knew that it would become her passion and her reason for leaving the business world to live out her dream. The dream became a reality in 1994 when she opened her own business, Glass by Phyllis in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin. In 1997 she started a Mosaic for Kids program. Her projects that she was most proud of were the memorial panels that were created and then hung in area churches. Phyllis had a three-ring binder that included pictures of all her projects. This binder was shared with nearly every person she crossed paths with over the years.

Phyllis loved to garden, read, take walks, crochet, knit, golf and help family and friends with projects. In her later years she enjoyed sitting out in front of Croixdale watching the cars go by as she knew every make and model. She loved the simple things in life and never met a piece of chocolate she didn’t love, and ice cream came in at a close 2nd.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents Henry and Hazel, great nephew Jackson Germain and nephew in-law Craig Wolff.

She is survived by her siblings, William (Gwen) Couch, Fred (Gayle) Couch and Richard (Roxanne) Couch. Nephews and Nieces: Lisa (Mike) Sicard, Kris (Joe) O’Connell, Missy (Lee) Germain, Scott (Misty) Couch, Tracey Couch, Tonia (Mark Krueger) Couch, Tara Couch and Michael (Reverend Jenna) Couch. She had fifteen great nephews/nieces and three great great nieces.

A private family interment will take place at Willow River Cemetery. Memorials can be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation or to the donors’ charity of their choosing.
