Frank R. Porter Jr., age 62, of Hudson, WI passed away February 25, 2020 at his home. Frank was born on March 5, 1957 in Hudson, the son of Frank and Opal May (Adams) Porter. Frank graduated from Hudson High School in 1975 and later from Minneapolis Community College. Other than a short time in Oklahoma, Frank has always called Hudson home.

Prior to working with Menards, Frank was a certified chemical dependency specialist and worked as a counselor at Jamestown Adolescent Treatment Center in Stillwater. He was instrumental in developing a form used by St. Croix County probation and parole to detect drug or alcohol abuse in clients. Ultimately, he spent 25 years as a sales associate at Menards in Hudson. He was well known as the guy who could get you what needed in the hardware department. Frank took pride in his work there and really enjoyed being at Menards. Away from work he enjoyed fishing, movies, and often reading thrillers. He had a great sense of humor and in his younger years played in a number of pool leagues around town.

Frank will remain in the hearts of his sisters; Vicki Gerhardt, and Sharon (Ed) Triebold; his many nieces and nephews, Brenda (Rob), Gena, Chad (Jenny), Jessie (Jim), Scott (Jody), Brian (Christine); great nieces and nephews; Ashley, Ryan, Lindsey, Meghan, Jake, Jim, Tyler, Bridget, and Rachel; as well as great-great nieces and nephew, Isayah, Aaliyah, and Devon; and many other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his son, Mathew James; his parents, Frank and Opal Porter; sister, Bonnie Shinners; and brother-in-law, Don Gerhardt.

A gathering of family of friends will be held from 5:00-7:00 pm on Thursday, March 5th at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home in Hudson.
