Richard Arnold ‘Rich’ Olson, age 70 of Prescott, died peacefully August 5, 2024, at his residence with his family at his side. Richard was born on March 12, 1954, in Baldwin, Wisconsin, the son of Arnold and Inga Olson. He attended schools in Baldwin graduating from high school in the class of 72’. He furthered his schooling at the University of Wisconsin – River Falls in the field of engineering.

On June 5, 1982, he was united in marriage to his best friend and soul mate, Roxanne Nelson at Peace Lutheran Church in Baldwin. This union would be further blessed with two children Ryan and Renee. Over the years, they raised their children in Cottage Grove before moving to Prescott where they have lived many years. Rich had a mindset of a developer, fabricator, and designer that gifted him well over his career. He worked as an engineer for such companies as Allied Signal, Holiday Circuits, and CTS Fabritech. He worked his way through many levels, focusing on quality engineering at the end of his career.

His first passion was his family, whether being able to share a difficult workday with Roxanne on their deck or attending his children’s school or sporting events. His favorite pastime was golf! He enjoyed playing a round of golf with friends or seeing colleagues at work tournaments. His favorite course to play was Clifton Highlands with beauty around each fairway. Rich was also fond of going mini-golfing with his kids, after which they would stop at Dairy Queen for an ice cream to help the kids feel better about losing mini golf. He also enjoyed playing softball earlier in life and playing billiards; always looking forward to a good tournament. Furthermore, he enjoyed fishing; whether watching the kids eyes light up when their bobber went under or fly fishing with his dad. He loved 80’s rock and was known to crank it up quite loud. As a family, they had a great time on the water with their Sea Doo jet boat. Rich knew how to perfect a good timing dad joke; although it might have been funnier just listening to him laugh at his own jokes. His dry sense of humor knew how to get a fun smile on the faces around him and if they were too young to understand, like his grandchildren, he averted to making goofy faces to bring them to smile.

Rich will remain in the hearts of his wife Roxanne; children Ryan Olson, Renee (Brian) Jochim; grandchildren Annalia, jack, Reed, Claire, Dean; siblings Eileen (Chuck) Coughlen, Karen Potthast, Susie Anderson; sister-in-law Sally Beck; and many nieces and nephews. His parents; siblings Duane Beck, Betty Beck Schmidt; brothers-in-law Bill Potthast and Jimmy Anderson precede him in death.

Memorial Service for Rich Olson will be at 2:00pm on Thursday, August 22, 2024, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church: N6450 530th St. Beldenville, WI 54003, with Pastor Lucas Ladnier officiating. Visitation will start at 12:00pm until the service at church. Interment will be at a later date.

Services are entrusted to O’Connell Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Prescott. For more details, please see www.oconnellfuneralhomes.com or call 715-262-5404

  1. Our sympathy to the family. I (Jo) worked with Rich at Fabri-Tek in Baldwin. We always got along good. He did have quite a sense of humor. Yes sometimes it was dry. But he was always funny! We are so sorry for your loss.. Keeping you all in our thoughts.
