Richard Clair “Dick” Bjornson, age 88 of River Falls, WI, passed away September 18, 2020 at his residence.  Richard was born March 16, 1932 in El Paso Township, WI to Howard and Ruth (O’Connell) Bjornson.  He graduated from Ellsworth High School, with the Class of 1950.  After High School, Dick enlisted and proudly served his country in the United States Army.  Dick’s life was blessed with 3 sons, Bryan, Jim and Greg.  He worked for Whirlpool in St. Paul for many years, until his retirement in 1986.

Dick was an avid sports enthusiast, who enjoyed cheering on his favorite teams, the Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Brewers.  He also enjoyed watching NASCAR.

Dick is survived by the love of his life, Jan Malmer, whom he shared the last 37 years with; his sons, Jim Bjornson and Greg (Aimee) Bjornson; grandson, Brady (Taylor) Kittleson; siblings, Deanna Bjornstad of Hudson and Jerry Bjornson of Ellsworth; sister-in-law, Elaine Bjornson of Chanhassen, MN; as well as many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his son, Bryan Bjornson; brother, Francis Bjornson; sister, Colleen Prine; and his parents, Howard and Ruth Bjornson.

A Gathering of Family and Friends will take place 3:00 – 5:00 PM Friday, September 25, 2020 at the O’Connell-Benedict Family Funeral Home, 225 S. 3rd St., River Falls.  A Prayer Service will be held at 5:00 PM at the funeral home, with Fr. Gerald Harris officiating.  Interment will take place at the Kinnickinnic Cemetery in River Falls.
