Richard ‘Dick’ Lindus

Richard William “Dick” Lindus, age 85, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on June 25, 2017 at the St. Croix Health Center where he has resided for the past four years.

Richard was born on July 19,1931 in Baldwin WI to parents William and Louise (Sittlow) Lindus. He grew up in Hammond and graduated from Hammond High School with the Class of 1949. He was joined in marriage to Virginia “Ginny” Blok on June 28, 1950. They were blessed with five children. Richard enjoyed farming early in life, and earned the Jaycees Farmer of the Year award. After farming he worked in construction of steel buildings, sold insurance and spent many years working at Blue Ribbon Feed in New Richmond. He also worked in maintenance at The Lutheran Home and American Heritage. He spent his final years working with his sons and grandsons at Lindus Construction prior to his retirement. He was very involved with his church activities at First Baptist of Woodville.

No matter where he would go he would always know someone, no matter what state or even country he was in. He enjoyed visiting with others and was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He loved spending time with his family and his extended family at his church. Richard loved his wife dearly, and they were married for 66 years.

He is survived by his wife Virginia; children, Greg (Robin) Lindus of New Richmond, Kevin (Emily) Lindus of Luck, Sandy (Jim) Hackenmueller of Roberts, and Larry Lindus of Roberts; grandchildren, Misty (Scott) Couch, Danielle Johnson, Ricky (Kacie) Lindus, Brent (Katie) Lindus, Andy (Molly) Lindus, Adam (Staci) Lindus, Alex (Jaimee) Lindus, Roger Lindus, April Hackenmueller (Billy Ross), Laura Leary (James Ziemer); great-grandchildren, Bennett Johnson, Olivia Johnson, Cora Lindus, Bowen Lindus, Louie Lindus, Brant Couch, Sarah Couch, Noah Lindus, Easton Lindus, Emilia Lindus, Gavin Hessler, Lauren Lindus, Emersyn Lindus, Alayna Lindus, Addison Lindus, Tristyn Hackenmueller, DeWayne Leary; grandchildren at heart, Samantha Ross, Jonathan Ross; sister-in-law Jean Lindus; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends including his extended family, and the many staff of the St. Croix Health Center that he loved dearly and they dearly loved him.

He was preceded in death by his daughter Christal Jean Lindus; great-grandson, Christian Lindus; his parents, William and Louise Lindus; his in-laws, Jake and Esther Blok; brother Kenneth Lindus; sister and brother-in-law, Vivian and Warner Gleiter; brother-and-sister-in-laws, Johnny & Marlys Blok, Richard Quinn, Marsh Blok.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, June 29th at the First Baptist Church, 581 Old Cty Road B in Woodville WI. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church, and also from 4:00-7:00pm on Wednesday, June 28th at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home, 1010 Newton Street in Baldwin. Burial will take place at the Baldwin Cemetery. Dick’s grandsons have the honor of serving as his casketbearers. Funeral services were entrusted to the O’Connell Family Funeral Home of Baldwin WI. 715-684-3434
