He is survived by his wife Ruby, children Connie (Rick) Apple, Todd (Cherie)Mockler, Angie Wilkinson, and Kristin (Jim) Blissenbach, along with 10 grandchildren and 10 great Grandchildren. His family was a great source of pride for him.

Born August 12th, 1932 in Stillwater, MN to Alice and Dick Mockler, Richard served in the US Air Force and worked for Andersen Windows before marrying his love Ruby in 1956. They purchased the A & W Root Beer restaurant in Hudson, WI and ran it for many years before Richard went on to other entrepreneurial adventures. He loved working with the local kids and community. He also enjoyed golf, bowling, cooking and travel.

Services for Richard will be on June 13th at the Bethel Lutheran Church, 920 Third St. in Hudson at 11:00 am with visitation for an hour before. In lieu of flowers the family would prefer memorials to either the American Cancer Society, or the Veterans Association of America.

  1. Our sincere condolences to everyone that was a part of Dick’s life. Dick touched many lives and will be thought of often and never forgotten. In the difficult days and nights ahead may the many wonderful memories of his life give you comfort. Something we have personally found to be of great comfort are the thoughts expressed in the Bible at John 5:28 “all those in the memorial tombs will hear his (Jesus) voice and come out “. May God Jehovah comfort you as you move forward from this profoundly sad time in your life.

  2. Thoughts and prayers to all of the Mockler family during this very difficult time.

  3. Please accept my sympathy. He was a good man.
Mr. Mockler hired me for my first job at A&W. He trained me in as a “front” and made sure I knew the easy way to “count up” for change, use the intercom system and make the perfect twist cone. When I accidentally let an entire batch of root beer go down the drain by turning the knob the wrong direction, he tempered his displeasure by reminding me “righty tightly, lefty loose-y”, an expression I use to this day and where I still hear his voice. His coney dog recipe was THE best. I can still see his smile and hear his short laugh and sarcastic humor. Good boss. Thanks for so many good memories.

  4. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. I will remember Dick as a super nice guy. God be with you. I know you have many good memories.
