Richard Carl Fick, age 79 of Ellsworth WI, passed away unexpectedly on January 11, 2019 at his home. Richard was born December 17, 1939 in Red Wing, MN to Fredrick and Ila (Owen) Fick. He graduated from Goodhue High School, the Class of 1958. Richard proudly served his country in the United States Army. Richard was a hard worker, working in the steel mill industry throughout his career, and until his retirement. Richard’s life was blessed with three children, Alisha, Christopher, and Patti-jo.
Richard was a true outdoorsman, appreciating nature, hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed his time farming, and tending to his cattle and horses. Richard was a devoted Minnesota sports fan, who loved cheering on the Twins and Vikings. Richard was fond of going for rides, and taking in the scenery around him. Richard always liked trying out his luck at the casino. Richard treasured his time spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Richard is survived by his children, Alisha Fick, Christopher (Holly) Fick, and Patti-jo (Jay) Dennis; grandchildren: Zachary Fick (Kati Mueller), Brady Fick, CJ (Kallie) Fick, Abe (Renee) Fick, Dillian Fick, Nathan Ricklefs, Austin Ricklefs, and Shayla Dennis; great-grandchildren: Sharaya, Lukas, Hayley, and Abby; sisters, Sandra Hobbs and Joyce Zahara; two generations of nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Gerald Fick; brothers-in-law, Jim Hobbs and George Zahara.
A Gathering of Family and Friends will take place from 2:00-5:00pm on Saturday, January 26, 2019 at O’Connell-Benedict Family Funeral Home, 130 N. Grant St., Ellsworth, with a time for sharing and remembering beginning at 5:00pm. Interment will take place at a later date at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Ellsworth. Memorials are preferred to the discretion of the family.
