Age 81 of River Falls. Passed away July 10, 2024 at the Comforts of Home in Hudson.

Richard was born October 4, 1942 in St. Paul the son of Harold and Alice (Reiter) Gorton. He grew up in White Bear Lake and graduated from the White Bear Lake High School.

He honorably served in the US Army from 1962 to 1968.

On October 5, 1941 he was united in Marriage to Marie Antoinette Pechmann at the St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in North St. Paul.

Richard was a Mechanic for Metro Transit (MTC) for many years.

He enjoyed fly fishing, golfing, working on cars, spending time outdoors, and he also raised homing pigeons for a while.

Preceded in death by his wife Marie in 2022; parents; 2 sisters Alice Schroeder & June Dale; and a brother Harold Gorton.

Survived by children Valerie Gorton, Wendy Carrick, Richard, Jr., Naomi (Stan) Flak, Peter (Shashona), and Paul; 9 grandchildren Daniel, Anastasia, Jimmy, Shelby, Johnny, Peter, Malachi, Lyle, and Taya; and 5 great-grandchildren Frederick, Saraphina, Freya, Ginny, and Orion.

Funeral Services will be held 11 AM Thursday, July 18th with visitation 10 AM-11AM at the O’Connell Funeral Home in Hudson. Interment will be held at Evergreen Memorial Park in Mahtomedi, MN.
