Robert “Bob” John Gartmann, age 80, of Woodville, Wisconsin, passed away on October 12, 2023, surrounded by his loving family at home.

Bob was born on May 12, 1943, to parents Robert and Thelma (Stayberg) Gartmann in St. Joseph Township, Wisconsin. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Patrick’s Church in Hudson. Bob grew up in the Hudson area until his family moved to Woodville where he graduated high school.  After graduation, Bob joined the United States Army and served our country with honor and dedication.

Bob was united in marriage with the love of his life, Faye (Veenendall) on November 15, 1969, at First Reformed Church in Baldwin, Wisconsin.  Together they raised four children.  Bob had a great love for his family and showed his love and devotion to them every day.

Bob enjoyed working around the house and outdoors.  He loved tending to his vegetable and flower gardens.  After his service in the Army, Bob worked with his brother-in-law Art at Art’s Auto Parts in Hudson.  After the store closed, Bob was a custodian at the Baldwin-Woodville Area Schools.  He will be remembered for his compassion and caring for the school children.  Bob enjoyed family vacations and camping.  He also enjoyed opportunities to visit Norway, Switzerland, Germany, and the Netherlands. Bob was a member of the Master Gardener’s Club and the Woodville American Legion.

Bob is survived by his loving wife Faye; children Amy (Dan) Welch, Lisa (Darrin Forrest) Gartmann, Jeff Gartmann, Tim (Pam) Gartmann; grandchildren Samantha (Nate) Hoepner, Stephanie (Jon) Chapa, Nathan (Ava) Welch, Rebekah Welch, Hannah Forrest, Dakota Gartmann, Grace Gartmann, Paisley Gartmann, Emelynn Gartmann, Henry Gartmann, Amelia Gartmann; great-grandchildren Lillian Welch, Evelyn Hoepner (due in January); sisters-in-law Marcia (Jim) Oswald, Lori Hoyt, Beth Hayes, Christine Gartmann; cousin Virginia Gartman; and many nieces, nephews and other extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Thelma Gartmann; sister Nancy and brother-in-law Art Hawkinson; brother Tony Gartmann; and brother-in-law Rod Hoyt.

A Memorial Service for Bob will be held at O’Connell Family Funeral Home, 1010 Newton St. Baldwin, WI 54002 on Wednesday, October 18, 2023, at 11:00 a.m.  Father Joseph Stefancin will be officiating. Visitation will take place Tuesday, October 17, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at O’Connell Family Funeral Home, 1010 Newton St. Baldwin, WI 54002 and an hour prior to service on Wednesday, October 18, 2023. A luncheon will take place following the service at the Baldwin American Legion Post #240, 410 Maple St., Baldwin from 12:00p.m. – 2:00p.m.
