Bob McGrew, age 90, died peacefully on Thursday, March 22, 2018 at Hudson Hospital. Bob was born on September 21, 1927, in Red Wing, MN, the son of Mac and Freda (Anderson) McGrew. He left Red Wing high school during his senior year in order to enlist in the United States Navy, where he proudly served in the Pacific Theater during World War II. After returning home from the Navy, he attended Winona State University as well as the University of Minnesota in the Twin Cities. On May 13, 1950, Bob was united in marriage to Lorraine Scuillo in Hudson, WI. Their union soon became blessed with three children: Nancy, John, and Carolyn. Bob held many jobs throughout his life; he built, managed, and maintained a walk-up root beer stand in Hudson before becoming the advertising manager at the Hudson Star Observer. Bob moved on to become Division Sales Manager at Ashland Oil, where he worked for many years before his retirement in 1986. He proudly served his community for over 30 years as a volunteer at the Hudson Hospital after his retirement.

Bob was a devoted husband, father, son, and brother; he appreciated each and every moment spent together with Lorraine across 68 years of marriage, and treasured the countless memories shared with his children. He took pleasure in a long round of golf, as well as his frequent woodworking ventures. Bob had a limitless talent for woodworking; he was determined to construct furniture and other projects with an immense level of pride and craftsmanship.

Bob is survived by his wife of 68 years, Lorraine; children, Nancy McGrew, John (Kim) McGrew, Carolyn (Bill) Leckey; sister, Betty Gibbs; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family, and countless friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother and sister-in-law, Mac and Mary McGrew; and brother-in-law, James Gibbs.

A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held from 4-8 PM on Friday, April 6, 2018, at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home in Hudson, WI, as well as one hour prior to the service at church. A Memorial Service for Bob will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, April 7, 2018 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church of Hudson. Burial will take place at Willow River Cemetery following the service.

Memorials are preferred to Adoray Hospice or St. Paul’s Episcopal Church.
