Robert John Micko was born June 14. 1950 to Raymond and Helen Micko in Saint Paul, MN. Graduating from the U of MN with a bachelors degree in horticulture, he eventually spent 35 years at Travelers Insurance as a reinsurance claims analyst.

After college, Bob met his wife, Carrie, at a church singles group. She said he had the most Christ-like character of anyone she had ever met, with a servant heart, and a humble attitude, always taking the burned piece, and the last place in line.

When they met, Bob was teaching Sunday School. Carrie reasoned that anyone who volunteered to teach 2 & 3 year olds would make a great dad, and he was. He also taught Sabbath School many years.

An original member of Beth Immanuel, serving on the board of directors, he could often be found in the sanctuary praying and studying.  It was his practice to read 5 psalms a day and would not go to bed till he did.

Avid gardeners, Bob and Carrie mixed the flowers right in with the vegetables and filled the yard with gardens.

He leaves behind his wife of 36 years, Carrie (nee Gorowsky), 5 children and 4 grandchildren: Emily (Aaron) Sibert and Edmund, Laura (Damon) Jacoby, Ziva and Shimon, John (Alyssa) and Amicia, Steven and Susan, and sister Michele Micko.

A Celebration of Life for Robert will start with a visit at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday November 3, 2022 at Beth Immanuel Messianic Synagogue, 828 3rd Street, Hudson, WI, with a refreshment meal being served starting at 6:00 p.m. Follow this link to view Bob’s graveside service.

  1. I worked with Bob Micko in the Reinsurance dept. for a long time at St. Paul Companies and then Travelers Insurance til I retired. He was one of the nicest people I have ever worked with. I’m so sorry for your loss. May God be with your family in this time of sorrow. God got the most awesome angel.
