In Memory of Robert "Bob" Schmidt

Robert “Bob” Joseph Schmidt, age 56 of New Richmond, passed away Thursday, July 9, 2020 at Westfields Hospital in New Richmond. Bob was born July 1, 1964 in River Falls to parents James “Jim” and Helen (Reinart) Schmidt. He grew up in River Falls and attended school there.  Bob’s loving personality was ever-present in the many hugs he gave on a daily basis. He enjoyed attending Lions Camp while growing up and kept himself active with swimming and bowling. Bob loved participating in the Special Olympics. He especially enjoyed competing in the track and field events which included his favorite event, the softball throw. Bob collected comic books, baseball and football trading cards, and was a fan of the Minnesota Twins and the Minnesota Vikings. Bob was loved by all that met him; his laugh was contagious.

Bob will remain in the hearts of his parents, Jim and Helen Schmidt of River Falls; siblings, Thomas (Jeanne) Schmidt of Ohio, Paul (Jerilyn) Schmidt of Germany, and Katrina (Richard) Einhellig of Colorado; and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial Mass of Christian Burial for Bob will be held at 11:00AM on Tuesday, July 14th at St. Bridget’s Catholic Church, 211 East Division Street in River Falls with Rev. Father Gerald Harris officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service at the church. Those attending services are asked to wear a mask. Interment at the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner. In lieu of flowers, family would  prefer donations to Special Olympics Wisconsin, 2310 Crossroads Drive, Suite 1000, Madison, WI 53718.

    • I had the honor of spending much time with Bob, He was an amazing person and his smile always melted my heart. I wish I would have heard of his passing sooner so that I could have said goodbye to him. He was amazing and always fun to be around. The world lost an wonderful person.

    • So sorry to hear that Bob has left this world. He spent alot of time with my brother, Dean Reis, over the years. I picture the 2 of them reuniting in heaven. May God bless all of Bob’s family.
