Robert “Bob” Wagner

Robert “Bob” Wagner, age 73 of St. Joseph Township, died Sunday November 18, 2018 at Regions Hospital in St. Paul following complications of bypass heart surgery. Bob was born on October 9, 1945 in River Falls, the son of Robert and Hattie (Porter) Wagner. He was raised in North Hudson/Hudson where he attended school prior to graduating from Hudson High in the class of ’63. Following this, he enlisted in the Armed Forces where he proudly served in the United States Air Force. He was stationed in the Philippines and Thailand during the Vietnam War.

Upon his return, he was united in marriage to Diana Richie at the Presbyterian Church in Hudson. To this union, twin daughters Heather and Kimberly were blessed. Bob worked many years in the communications industry. He began working for Northwestern Bell installing framework systems. He would be promoted throughout the years as the company changed names to Quest and Century Link.

Outside of spending time with family, he loved the outdoors. His greatest passion was spending time on the greens and fairway. He enjoyed his time golfing at the New Richmond Golf Course or maintaining the fairways as a groundskeeper for St. Croix National. He also looked forward to deer hunting season with the guys up near Minong for bow or gun. Another pastime was taking their annual spring trip to Iowa for the World of Outlaw sprint car races or the Tulip Festival in Pella. He also took pleasure in coaching Hudson Hockey Squirts and later refereeing high school games.

Bob will forever remain in the hearts of his beloved Diana; cherished daughters Heather (Eric) Wanek of Inver Grove Heights, Kimberly (Dan) Wiseman of Hudson; supportive grandpa to Cole, Jaxon, Sadie, Cooper; loving brother to Valerie Strukel of Eveleth, Denice (Dennis) Anderson of Hudson, brother-in-law Geri Wagner of Stillwater. He is preceded in death by parents, infant brother Dennis, brother William, and brother-in-law Frank Strukel.

Funeral service for Bob Wagner will be 6PM Wednesday, November 21 at the O’Connell Family FH, Hudson with visitation two hours prior at funeral home. Memorials preferred to the discretion of the family.
