Robert “Bob” Gunderson, passed away peacefully February 18, 2015 in Hudson, WI, at the age of 71.

Bob was born on May 2, 1943 to his parents, Marion and Lynn Gunderson. He grew up in Portage, WI and graduated from Portage High School in 1961. He graduated from UW-Whitewater in 1966. While working in the Twin Cities, Bob met and married his wife Nancy (Neumeier). They were blessed with two wonderful daughters, Keri and Jill. In 1977, they moved back to Portage and he worked in construction with his dad and brother. Bob also received a series seven securities license and a real estate brokers license; working in this area until 1994. In 1990, he was diagnosed with MS, which progressed to the point that he had to retire. In 2006, Bob and Nancy moved to Hudson, WI.

Bob was known for his sense of humor, quick wit and positive attitude. He was a story-teller and drew people together with his warm smile and joking manner. While in Portage, he served in number of community organizations. If someone needed help, a ride or just a friendly smile, Bob was always willing to lend a hand. Even through years of MS, he remained optimistic. As he said, “For tomorrow, I will win the lottery.”

Bob will remain in the hearts of his beloved wife of 42 years, Nancy; daughter, Keri Goeltl, her husband, Tom, and their daughter, Adeline; daughter, Jill Zydowsky, and her husband, Joe, and their children, A.J., Eric and Ellie; brother, David Gunderson; sister-in-law, Sandy Gunderson; and brother-in-law, Steve Kailing. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister Nancy Kailing.

A Memorial Service will take place 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 23, 2015 at First Presbyterian Church, 1901 Vine St., Hudson, WI, with Pastor Stephanie Anthony officiating. A Gathering of Family and Friends will take place one hour prior to the service at church. In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to First Presbyterian Church of Hudson or Portage Presbyterian Church.
