Robert J. Driscoll, age 82, a resident of Roberts, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully at his residence following a sudden medical condition Wednesday, February 5, 2025. Robert was born on December 14, 1942, in River Falls, Wisconsin, the son of Vernon and Gertrude (Langer) Driscoll. Robert graduated along side his brother Lawrence from River Falls High School with the Class of 1960. He was drafted to the Armed Forces, proudly serving in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. After returning home from his tour of active duty, Robert was Honorably Discharged.
Through mutual connections, he met and fell in love with Linda Deiss. On February 1, 1969, surrounded by family and friends, they professed their love for each other at Saint Bridget’s Catholic Church in River Falls. Their marriage was blessed with two daughters, Stacy and Bobbi.
After working various jobs, Robert accepted a position at 3M Manufacturing in Saint Paul, where he worked in the assembly division as a machine operator for 30+ dedicated years.
Robert may have had a tough exterior, but beneath it, he was a gentle soul who adored his family more than anything. He took great pride in his daughters and was fiercely protective of them. Robert enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially with Linda by his side. He looked forward to deer hunting in Welch, Minnesota, with his brother Lawrence in his younger years, and more recently on his land in Warren Township. Some of his most peaceful moments were spent trout fishing on the banks of the Kinnickinnic River on the edge of his in-laws property where the family gathered regularly. Even if he didn’t catch a fish, it was still a good day. He also made cherished memories ice fishing on Lake Mille Lacs, where laughter was always abundant-no matter how cold it got, as long as there was a cold beer in hand.
Robert had a special fondness for birds, always keeping the feeders full and making sure the squirrels didn’t ruin their fun. Even when he wasn’t outside, he loved checking his trail camera to see if he had captured a ten-point buck or a wandering bear-photos he eagerly shared with family and friends. He enjoyed four-wheeling and riding trails with his brothers. Sundays were reserved for his beloved Green Bay Packers, and if they weren’t playing any game would suffice. Fridays were spent enjoying the day at Treasure Island trying his lucky hand at the slot machines. Special thanks to the Staff at the Kinni Cafe in River Falls and Perkins in Hudson, for their special hospitality.
