Robert J. Kaye, age 70 of Afton, MN, passed away accidentally January 31, 2015 in Gordon, WI. Robert was born December 5, 1944 in Chicago, IL, the son of Andrew and Florence (Graham) Kucharski Kaye. He attended St. Lambert’s School in Skokie, IL and graduated from Notre Dame High School. While in high school, Bob proudly competed on the state champion rifle team. He furthered his education at St. Procopius College graduating with a degree in Economics, and then went on to earn his Masters degree in Business Administration from Northern Illinois University. He taught at St. Hubert’s in Carol Stream, IL and St. Catherine Laboure School in Glenview, IL. He was united in marriage on August 11, 1973 in Superior, WI to Katherin “Kate” Flahaven. Their marriage was blessed with two sons, Christopher Robert and Robert James. Bob then took a position with Allstate Insurance, working as a senior programer / systems analyst, working with them for a total of 30 years. Most recently Bob enjoyed his employment with US Bank.

Outside of work, Bob’s greatest enjoyment was spent with his family and friends at their cabin in Gordon, WI. It was there where he delighted in four wheeling, snowmobiling and water skiing- in which he was amazingly skilled at. Bob had a true love of the outdoors, taking great pride and being quite meticulous in caring for his lawn. He took pleasure in collecting old cars and attending car shows. He also enjoyed working and fixing cars, especially with his sons. Bob was a hard worker and paid great attention to his health and fitness. He enjoyed running and competed in over 40 marathons, including Grandmas Marathon and the Boston Marathon. He also won the American Fitness Award affiliated with Allstate Insurance. Bob had a gracious heart, helping others and encouraging those around him. He was a devoted husband and father, and proud grandpa to his grandson, Patrick. Bob appreciated the many blessings in his life, and with that, his loving spirit will remain in the hearts of all who love him.

Bob is survived by wife, Katherin “Kate”; sons, Christopher Robert and Robert James Kaye; grandson, Patrick Christopher Kaye; brothers, Andrew Kucharski, Daniel (Laura) Kaye, William (Lynn) Kaye and Barry (Cynthia) Kucharski; sister, Bonnie (Bob) Schoenecker; mother-in-law, Alamae Flahaven; brother-in-law, John (Bonnie) Flahaven; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Florence; sister, Jacqueline Kucharski; and father-in-law, Patrick Flahaven; and brother-in-law, Dan Flahaven.

Funeral services will take place 11:00 AM Friday, February 6, 2015 at St. Ambrose of Woodbury Catholic Church, 4125 Woodbury Dr., Woodbury. A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held 1 hour prior to the service. Memorials are preferred to the Gordon Volunteer Fire Dept., PO Box 68, Gordon, WI 54838.
