Robert Raymond Karras, Sr. age 92, passed away peacefully on July 28, 2019 at Comforts of Home in River Falls. Robert was born on September 18, 1926 to William and Mary (Knott) Karras.

He married the love of his life, Ruth Rimer on February 14, 1950. Robert proudly served our country in the United States Air Force. He spent most of his working days as an engineer at St. Joseph’s Hospital/River Falls Area Hospital until his retirement. He was a member of St. Bridget Church, American Legion Post 121, 73-year member of the Knights of Columbus, serving almost 40 of those years as a 4th Degree Knight and Financial Secretary. Robert was known for his sweet tooth, especially his love for Hershey Bars. He was always ready for a good game of softball, playing well into his sixties; he also enjoyed cards, bingo, carpentry, travel, watching sports and spending time with his family.

Robert will remain in the hearts of his children, Barb (Jim) Mikul, Robert (Janet) Karras, Ralph (Kathy) Karras, Randy (Nancy) Karras, Roxi Harer, Renee (Brian) Hammond, Rhonda (Jay) Purfeerst, and Rich (Jenny) Karras; 17 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren. He is further survived by brothers Ray (Vickie) Karras and Leo (Marlys) Karras, sisters-in-law Marilyn Karras, Joyce (Bruce) Dahlberg, brothers-in-law Ronald Rimer, Ralph (Lorraine) Rimer, several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 50 years Ruth, son Roy, and brother John Karras.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 1st at St. Bridget Catholic Church, River Falls with Father Gerald Harris officiating. Burial will be at St. Bridget Cemetery with full military honors. Visitation will be held from 12:30-3:00 at the church with light refreshments.
