Robert “Pee Wee” Sundby

Robert Sundby
 “Pee Wee”

On the evening of Friday, January 24th heaven gained one of the most dedicated Green Bay Packer fans of all time!

Robert Roy Sundby, also known as “Pee Wee”, was born on August 27th, 1941. He was called Pee Wee by his friends and family most of his life. In fact, many have commented they knew him as Pee Wee for years before they actually discovered his real name.

Pee Wee graduated from Prescott High School in 1959, was a lifelong resident of Prescott, and enjoyed growing up and living on the St. Croix River. After high school he worked for the City of Prescott in the Utility Department. In 1965 he started working for the Prescott Lumber Company and remained employed until it closed in 1987. He then worked for United Building Center (UBC) in Hastings, MN until he retired at the age of 65. He was a volunteer Fire Fighter for the City of Prescott for 24 years. Throughout his life he enjoyed a variety of different hobbies including playing softball, hunting in Grantsburg, WI, yardwork, going out to breakfast with “the boys”, and of course never missed a Packer game!

He is survived by one daughter Cindy (Larry) Leonard of Eau Claire, WI; grandchildren, Sophie and Beckham; one brother Charles (Joyce) Sundby of Prescott; two nieces, Kathy (Bob) Kippley of Eagan, MN and Lynn Wolf of Fitchburg, MA; one nephew, Nick Sundby of Hastings, and numerous extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, Whilmae (nee Tronnier) and Charles A. Sundby; and an infant brother.

Visitation is scheduled for Saturday, February 1st from 1:00-3:00pm at the Old Ptaceks Event Center in Prescott, followed by a celebration of life at 3:00pm, and a final tribute page by the Prescott Fire Department at 4:00. A private family burial is scheduled for a later date. As Pee Wee’s friends and family know, he was a quiet, simple man with few material needs. He would be honored to see everyone celebrate his life by wearing their favorite Packer or sports team attire to his visitation. (Yes, even those Vikings jerseys are welcome.) In lieu of flowers or cash, a donation to the Prescott Fire Department is suggested.

Pee Wee loved his hometown and his community. If you have a story or favorite memory of Pee Wee, you are invited to share it at his celebration of life. Although the season is over for the Packers, there’s always next season. In Pee Wee’s honor, “Go Pack, go!”.

Services entrusted to the O’Connell-Benedict Family Funeral Home of Prescott, WI. 715-262-5404
