Roberta L. Marro, age 86 of Hudson, died peacefully on March 7, 2019 at Woodland Hill surrounded by her loving family.

Roberta was born on September 9, 1932 to Robert and Verna (Rowley) Cronkhite in Knoxville, Iowa where she spent her childhood. She attended Knoxville High School, graduating with the class of 1950. She enrolled in Northwest Missouri State College and studied there from 1950 to 1952. In 1952, Roberta moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado and began her Civil Service career. While in Colorado Springs she met Airman Charles Angelo Marro. On October 11, 1952, Roberta was united in marriage to Charles and together they were blessed with three children, Michael, Steven, and Teresa. She later furthered her education at Angelo State University in San Angelo, Texas where she obtained a Bachelor in Business Administration in 1973, and Master of Business Administration in 1980.

Roberta was a devoted wife and mother while maintaining a successful career as a civil servant in financial management, earning may promotions and accolades along the way. She supported her husband in his Air Force career and they made homes in many different locations over the years including several locations in the US and abroad. She and Charles were married for 50 years.

Roberta was gregarious, outgoing, and a proud member of several organizations. She was an avid member of the American Association of University Women (AAUW), staunchly supporting their mission of empowering women as individuals and as a community. She was also a long-time member of American MENSA, and always enjoyed attending local, regional and annual gatherings. After her husband passed away, she joined the Widowed Men and Women of America. She joined and cherished her friends in the Red Hat Society. Wherever she went, she made friends, formed connections, and sought to be active in the life of the community.

A voracious reader, she especially loved mysteries and biographies. Roberta enjoyed singing and had an uncanny ability to recall song lyrics. Moreover, she could recite poetry from memory and excelled in trivia games—she was familiar with countless movie stars. She also loved playing Scrabble and Words with Friends, and usually won. Roberta had an artistic side, enjoying scrapbooking and making hand-crafted greeting cards. Roberta savored her time in nature; she loved the mountains of Colorado, the rugged wilderness of Alaska, and the beauty of the cherry blossoms around the Tidal Basin in Washington, D.C. each spring. More than anything, Roberta was known for her sassy and infectious humor. Her smile warmed the hearts of many. We would be remiss if we did not mention the great joy she took in her various kitties over the years, especially her beloved Cato.

Roberta will remain in the hearts of her son, Michael C. Marro (Carol Macha); daughter, Teresa L. Biros (Mark Biros); her grandchildren, Matthew, Christopher, Carminie, and Sophia Marro, Nicole, Mitchell, and Shawn Marro, and Lucie, Noah, Hannah, and Jordan Biros; her cousin, Richard Murphy, her extended family on Charles’ side as well as many dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles A. Marro; son, Steven R. Marro; and her parents, Robert Cronkhite and Verna Moneysmith.

A Memorial Service celebrating Roberta’s life will be held at 3PM, March 15th, 2019 at Woodland Hill, 441 Stageline Rd., Hudson, WI. Interment will be held at a later date in Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver, Colorado. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Doctors without Borders organization, USO, or Adoray Home Health and Hospice Care.
