Roger Horstmann

Roger Steven Horstmann, aged 70, of Ellsworth, passed away on Sunday, December 17, 2023, at River Falls Area Hospital. Born to Joseph and Ester (Theising) Horstmann on October 19, 1953, in Wadena, MN, Roger’s life was one filled with love, laughter, and a deep connection to his family.

On September 2, 1972, Roger married the love of his life, Virginia Granheim, at St. Francis Catholic Church in Ellsworth, WI. Together, they embarked on a journey blessed with two sons: Steven and Scott.

Roger was a man of many passions. He found solace in the great outdoors, enjoying the thrill of hunting, the tranquility of fishing, and the camaraderie of camping. His green thumb was evident in the joy he took in gardening, creating a vibrant and welcoming space for his family.

Known to all who knew him as a jokester, Roger had a gift for spreading laughter. He delighted in sending jokes far and wide, bringing joy to those in his circle. His love for his children was unwavering, and his penchant for napping in his favorite chair was a well-known aspect of his daily routine. An early riser, Roger found solace in a couple of naps a day, retiring to bed early each evening.

Roger is survived by his devoted wife, Ginny, his sons, Steven (Teresa) Horstmann and Scott Horstmann; and grandchildren: Breanna (Luke) Horstmann, Abby (Victor) Horstmann, Noah (Kyra) Horstmann, Nicholas Horstmann. Anticipation fills the air as a granddaughter is expected in May. He is also remembered by his siblings: Joseph Horstmann Jr., Michael Horstmann, Teresha Horstmann, Robert Horstmann, Brian Horstmann, along with numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Jon Horstmann. The family extends a special thank you to the Ellsworth Ambulance Service and the River Falls Area Hospital for their care.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 3pm – 7pm on Friday, January 26th at Ridgetop, W10516 US Highway 10, Prescott, WI. Memorials are to the discretion of the family.
