Roger Kooiman age 60, passed away in his home in Hammond, Wisconsin on March 15, 2015. Roger was born on January 18, 1955 in Baldwin, Wisconsin; the son of Bert and (Ella) Bolt) Kooiman. He was raised in Hammond where he attended Baldwin Christian School and graduated from St. Croix Central in the class of 1973. He enlisted in the armed forces where he proudly served in the United States Army.

Roger was united in marriage to Lori Boumeester on September 4, 1982. They made Wisconsin Dells/Lake Delton their home for many years before moving back to Hammond.

Roger worked many years for United Parcel Service. He was extremely active with the Dells/Delton Area Hockey. He loved coaching his children and others. Roger had a gift for gab and a unique ability to lighten a room with his sense of humor. He was a proud member of the American Legion Post 432 and served on their color guard.

The three best days of Roger’s life were when his children were born. Roger will forever remain in the hearts of his wife of 32 years Lori of Hammond; children Jordan (Sarah) Kooiman of Gainesville, FL, Casey Kooiman of Milwaukee, WI, Jake Kooiman of Bentonville, AR, siblings Judy (John) Brinkman of Winnipeg, Canada, Irv (Alice) Kooiman of Hager City, WI, Ken Kooiman of Maplewood, MN, mother-in-law Julie Boumeester of Hammond; sister-in-law Teri (Mike) Leaf of Eau Claire; and many wonderful nieces and nephews. Roger is preceded in death by his father and mother Bert and Ella Kooiman; father-in-law Ron Boumeester, brothers John and Cal Kooiman.

A Memorial service for Roger will be 11AM Monday March 23rd at the Baldwin Christian Reformed Church, 893 US Highway 63 in Baldwin. Interment will be private. Visitation will be on Sunday, March 22 from 4pm to 8pm at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home in Baldwin as well as one hour prior to the service at church.
