Ronald James Reis

Ronald (Ron) James Reis Sr. was born on December 4, 1935, to Henry and Dorothy (Tyler) Reis, their first born.  Ron lived in Prescott, WI for many years and was a graduate of Prescott High School in 1953.  During his high school years, he met Dorothy Anne Eggers and they married on February 19, 1955.  Ron and Dorothy lived many years in Prescott and had eight children together.  During those years, Ron and Dorothy were also foster parents to many children.

Ron worked at 3M for thirty-seven (37) years and retired from there at the age of 55.  During his time at 3M, Ron worked hard for equal pay for women and worker’s rights.

Ron and Dorothy also owned Reis’ Prescott Greenhouse from 1960-1999.  Their greenhouse was known by many and people came from outside of Prescott to purchase their amazing hanging baskets and to have their urns planted for their loved ones at the cemetery.

Ron had a love for the outdoors and along with his family had several cabins over the years where they enjoyed Wisconsin summers.  Ron and Dorothy purchased a lake home near Danbury, WI and moved from Prescott to live there after selling their greenhouse.  They shared almost 30 amazing years at their lake home with family and friends.  Their 4th of July parties over those years will be treasured by family forever.

As someone who always “gave back,” Ron volunteered for Habitat for Humanity for over 20 years.  Ron and Dorothy volunteered for Meals on Wheels and delivered food to people for well over a decade.  Always a grower, Ron had a small greenhouse at their lake home and he and Dorothy provided plants and flowers for the local Sunflower Festival to provide money for local charities.

Ron passed away on Thursday, November 18, 2021.  He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Dorothy, and their seven children:  Kerry Reis, Ronald James, Jr. (Jim) Reis, Kelly Brenna (Paul Gerbec), Joe Reis (Maria), Tom Reis (Cyd Jacques), Bill Reis (Sheri) and Kaycee Brookshaw (Tim).  Nineteen grandchildren:  Nathan Reis, Amberlee Threinen, Adam Geurkink, Katie Moline, Zachary, Austin, and Dylan Brenna, Zachary Gerbec, Tressa Klenc, Benjamin, Joshua, Kendyl, John, Jacob, McKenzie, and Hannah Reis, Jeffrey, Thomas, and Charles Brookshaw and 13 great grandchildren.  He is also survived by his siblings, Dorie Deiss, Mike (Nancy) Reis, Kathy Kay, and Dave (Julie) Reis and in-laws Lynn Geurkink and Paula Weisbeck.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his son John Daniel, grandson Daniel Gerbec, sister Joanne Smith, and brother Daniel Reis.

Ron left behind a legacy of a firm believer in God, honesty, hard work, laughter, and love of family.

There was a private family service to honor Ron and his life.  In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family requests that you continue his legacy of giving and go out and volunteer your time for a worthy cause.
