Roy W. Cook

Roy “Bill” Cook, age 73, of Ellsworth, passed away unexpectedly on November 24, 2023, at Mayo Clinic Health Systems in Menomonie. Born to LeRoy and Carolyn (Kane) Cook on January 10, 1950, in Minneapolis, MN, Bill’s journey through life was marked by simplicity, genuine joy, and a deep appreciation for the little things that brought him happiness.

A proud graduate of Ellsworth High School, Bill enlisted in the United States Army after completing his education. Serving with honor for three years, he continued his commitment to service in the reserves for almost two decades, embodying the values of dedication and duty.

On July 16, 1983, Bill was united in marriage to Wendy Gunderson. Their union was blessed with two sons, Joseph and William. Bill’s devotion to family and the joy he found in the everyday moments of life left an indelible mark on those who knew him.

Known affectionately as “Shiney” by his wife, Bill had a fondness for anything that sparkled and shined. His collection of these little treasures became a reflection of the joy he found in life’s simplicity.

Bill is survived by his loving wife, Wendy, and his sons, William and Joey. He is also remembered by his siblings, Sharon (Ron) Stewart and Dennis (Debbie) Cook, along with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, LeRoy and Carolyn Cook, and his brother Bruce Cook.
