Ruth Spencer, age 75 of Hudson, WI passed away on Saturday December 9, 2023.   

Ruth was born to Florence and Herman “Ole” Henck on July 26, 1948. She lived and helped on the family dairy farm on the shores of her beloved Horseshoe Lake with her younger brothers William (Henck) and Joseph (Henck). She attended Turtle Lake Public School. Shortly after her high school graduation Ruth was united in marriage with Philip Quade. This marriage was blessed with the birth of their son Robert. The marriage ended in divorce in 1970. She met and married Dennis Spencer and was blessed with two children; son Tedd and daughter Mindy. This marriage was also later dissolved.  

Ruth worked for St. Croix County Clerk of Courts for 25 years of her professional career.  Prior to that she worked at the First National Bank of Hudson and as the attendance clerk at Hudson Senior High School.  In addition, Ruth had numerous other part-time interests over the years.    

Ruth was a talented seamstress and gardener. She also enjoyed crocheting, knitting and baking. She loved the holidays, especially Christmas, and planned for it all year long. As a loyal Wisconsinite, Ruth was an avid Green Bay Packer fan! Her children and grandchildren brought her immense joy, and she loved bragging about all of them. She will be remembered for her humor, quick comebacks and caring nature.   

Ruth remains in the hearts of her sons, Robert (Laura) Quade, Tedd Spencer; daughter Mindy (David) Dykes; her eight grandchildren; Jacob Quade, Trevor Quade, Hunter Quade, Payton Spencer, Sydney Spencer, Carson Spencer, Joselyn Dykes and Connor Dykes and great-grandson; Theo Quade.  Her brothers; William (Linda) Henck and Joseph (Gloria) Henck.  

She is preceded in death by her parents and grandson Christopher Gabriel Dykes.   

A gathering to celebrate Ruth’s life will be held on Monday, December 18, 2023, at 1-2p.m. at Cross Lutheran Church, 1246 Co. Rd TT, Roberts, WI with a memorial service to follow at 2 p.m. Memorials preferred in lieu of flowers.
