Ruth M. Brown

Ruth M. Brown, River Falls, Wisconsin, died Friday, January 10, 2025, at age 95. Ruth was born in Black River Falls, Wisconsin to Gustave Spiering and Alice Arneson Spiering. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Lois Goldsmith, and her husband Daniel H. Brown. She is survived by her children Diane (Michael) Kretz, Suzanne Silverman, Tom (Karen) Brown, Ellen (Doug) Wiseman, her sister, Mary Upton, 12 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren.

Ruth loved Dan and the game of bridge more than anything. She made friends easily. As she aged, she lost so many dear friends but she was able to make new friends and form bonds and relationships. She and Dan moved their family to River Falls in 1962, and she always considered it her true home. She will be missed by many.

A Mass of Christian Burial in Ruth’s memory will be held at 11:00am on Friday, January 17, 2025, at St. Bridget’s Catholic Church: 211 E Division St. River Falls, WI 54022, with visitation at the church 30 minutes prior. Memorials preferred to the University of Wisconsin River Falls Foundation-the Dr. Daniel H. Brown Family Endowed Scholarship, 410 South Third Street, River Falls, Wisconsin 54022.
