Sally Van Allen

Sally Ann Van Allen, age 80, of Hudson, WI, passed away on Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at her home in Hudson.

Sally was born on February 14, 1934 in Ellsworth, WI, the daughter of Raymond Albert and Lillian Marie (Shafer) Holden. She attended school in Ellsworth.

She was united in marriage to William F. Van Allen on September 4, 1954 at St. Francis Catholic Church in Ellsworth, WI. Their marriage would be blessed with five children: Raymond, Nancy, John, Joseph, and Richard.

Sally was an office assistant for various companies throughout her career, in charge of payroll, accounting, and other administrative duties. Most recently, she worked for Kolpak in River Falls, and retired in 1998.

She enjoyed bowling, reading a good murder mystery, solving the daily crossword puzzles in the St. Paul paper, and watching baseball, Packer and Badger football, and the NCAA basketball finals. Sally loved the casino, and generally had a lucky streak.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Bill Van Allen, of Hudson, WI; children: Raymond (Cathey) Van Allen of River Falls, WI, Nancy (Greg) Sarno of Hudson, WI, John (Leanne) Van Allen of Hudson, WI, Joseph (Kris) Van Allen of Austin, TX, and Richard (Laurie) Van Allen of Hudson, WI; 13 grandchildren: Ryan, Sarah, Christopher, Michael, William, Morgan, Lily, Eric, Alex, Grace, Kayla, Julia and Jenna; and 2 great-grandchildren, Avery and Cameron.

She is preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Colleen Frye.

Visitation for Sally will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home, 520 S. 11th St., Hudson. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 1500 Vine St., Hudson, with a visitation one hour prior to the Mass at church. Private family interment will be at St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery in Hudson.

Memorials are preferred to Adoray Home, Health, and Hospice.
