Sanden J. Voorhees

Sanden James Voorhees, age 15, of Baldwin,WI died unexpectedly on Saturday October 14, 2017 at his home.

Sanden was born on November 5, 2001 on a farm in rural Beadle County SD to his parents Angela Brink and Geoffrey Voorhees. Sanden attended school in Huron, SD until 2008 when his family moved to rural Baldwin. Sanden was currently a sophomore at the Baldwin-Woodville High School.

Sanden was a member of the Baldwin-Woodville wrestling club, and later was interested in boxing. He was well known and liked at the swap meets, auctions, car and antique engine shows that his family and friends attended. He was an avid collector of many things, including knives, rocks, tools, engines and military equipment.

Sanden had an incredible love for the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and archery. He also liked working with his dad, whether it was machining parts, working on antique engines, an old car or making a new knife. He enjoyed working with his hands. Sanden’s quick wit, contagious smile and laughter was enjoyed by all. He was a great friend to many and will be dearly missed.

Sanden will remain in the hearts of his mom, Angela Brink of Sioux Falls, SD; father, Geoff (Onelia) Voorhees of Baldwin; siblings, Hannah, Osborn, Mia, and Jayden Voorhees; grandparents, Milton and Cathy Schavee, of Sioux Falls, SD; Roger and Leanne Voorhees of Huron, SD; step-grandparents, Vincente and Rita Valero of Baldwin, WI; great-grandmother, Mary Lou Wallenstein of Huron, SD; aunt, Michelle (Montie) Harmdierks of Alpena, SD; nephew, Adrian Voorhees; cousins Mason Harmdierks and Stephanie (Glen) Schiltz; and many close friends. He is preceded in death by his great-grandfather, Richard Wallenstein, and great-grandparents, Kenneth and Georgia Voorhees.

A Funeral Service for Sanden will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 20 at the Gethsemane Lutheran Church, 1350 Florence St., Baldwin. Visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 19 at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home, 1010 Newton St., Baldwin, and one hour prior to the funeral at church on Friday. Memorials preferred and will be used towards a memorial at the Baldwin-Woodville High School.
