Sandra “Sandi” Rae Schultz

Sandra “Sandi” Rae Schultz, age 84, of Maplewood, MN, formerly of Trego, WI, Waterloo, IA, Park Forest, IL, and Plainfield, IL, died on March 25, 2022 in Maplewood.

Sandi was born on July 4, 1937 in Waterloo, IA to Robert and Helen (Marsden) Davis. She attended school in Waterloo, IA and graduated with an Associates degree from the University of Sioux Falls in South Dakota.

It was while at a dance with friends that she met her future husband, Richard Schultz, who was on leave from the Army with a friend from Waterloo. When he was honorably discharged, the two would be married, and together relocated to Minnesota to start a family, but were transferred to Illinois by 3M several years later. For many years, Sandi worked in medical records at Saint Joseph Hospital in Joliet, IL. She also enjoyed working for Sears and Marshall Fields. Sandi and Dick retired to their home in Trego in 1992.

Sandi was a dedicated member of the Elks in many of the communities that she lived. She loved going to the theater to see a play or musical. She also cherished time spent golfing and bowling on various leagues, and being anywhere near water, whether that was lounging by the lake or enjoying the waves of the ocean. When at home, she was either caring for her family, tending to her yard and surrounding 40-acre forest, crocheting beautiful afghans, doing puzzles, and reading. Sandi was one the kindest, gentlest souls. She was a selfless and caring mother, dedicating much of her time to taking her children to and from activities, and filling in as girl scout leader, softball coach, or wherever she was needed. When her children were older, she was just as dedicated to her grandchildren as well. Her energy was infectious, and her sense of humor and occasional feistiness made her someone that everyone enjoyed being around.

She is survived by her children, Helen Iacobello and Ronald Schultz (Christine Vokenroth); grandchildren: Sara Iacobello, Christopher (Cassandra) Schultz, Cyle (Angelica) Schultz, Jakob Kagay, and Kate Kagay; great-grandchildren: Noah, Savea, Nicco, Bella, and Kari; along with many cousins, extended family, and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, Richard; daughter, Barbara Kagay; and parents.

Funeral Service for Sandi will be held at 3:00p.m. on Wednesday, April 6, 2022 at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home, 520 S. 11th St., Hudson with a visitation one hour prior to the service at the funeral home and reception to follow. The service will be live-streamed – click HERE for the livestream. Burial will be at Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner.
