Scott Spencer Greiman, age 71, of Spring Valley, Wisconsin, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, June 7, 2024. He was born on October 6, 1952, in Mason City, Iowa to Gerald and Beverly (Reemtsma) Greiman.

Scott spent his early years on the family farm in Garner, Iowa, where he developed a love for raising quarter horses, shorthorn cattle, and other animals. Following his graduation from high school, Scott pursued his passion for animals by attending Iowa State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine.

In 1980, Scott married the love of his life, Lois Nelson. Their union was blessed with three wonderful children: Travis, Justin, and Tara. The family eventually moved to Dayton, Minnesota, where Scott founded and operated the Maple Grove Animal Hospital in Maple Grove, MN for over 30 years.

Upon retiring, Scott and Lois fulfilled their dream of moving to a rural area in the driftless region of Wisconsin, an area untouched by the last ice age. There, they enjoyed the natural beauty of western Wisconsin and cherished their time on their farm, raising horses, cattle, and various other farm animals.

Scott found immense joy in spending time with his family, of whom he was incredibly proud. He had a love for long walks, breathtaking sunsets, and was also a classically trained concert pianist.

Scott is survived by his beloved wife, Lois; his children, Travis (Eliane) Greiman, Justin (Ruth) Greiman, and Tara (Evan Carmen) Greiman; 10 beautiful grandchildren; his brothers, Randy (Marian) Greiman, and Mark (Lisa) Greiman; and several nieces.

A prayer service will be held at 5:00 pm on Saturday, June 15, 2024, at O’Connell Family Funeral Home, located at 130 N. Grant St., Ellsworth, WI 54011. A Gathering of Friends and Family will begin at 2:00 pm.

  1. I was surprised to learn of Scott’s passing. He was a few years younger than me and we both left Garner to other parts of the country. I’ve lost tract of him and many other cousins. I never knew you Lois or any of your family. My deepest sympathies go out to you. My deepest sympathies go out to Randy and Marian and Mark and Lisa also.

  2. I’m sorry to hear about Dr. Greiman. I was one of his techs years ago before I got into vet school. I learned a lot of the basics of working with pets and clients from him. He was a good person. My thoughts are with you Lois and the rest of your family, who were only kids when I met them and it’s hard to think of them as grown up now.

  3. Dear Lois. Very sorry to hear of your husband Scott’s passing. I met a friend of yours, Connie Gephart, who told me. I work part time at Hales Quarters where Connie keeps her horses in the summer. Small world.
    Hope you are doing well!
All the best, Michelle van dake. ❤️
