Shannon Eggen

Shannon Kay (Butler) Eggen, age 71, of Hammond, WI passed away peacefully on June 22, 2018 surrounded by her family. Shannon was born on December 12, 1946 to William and Lucile (Bennett) Butler in Benson, Minnesota.  She was united in marriage to Donald Brathol and together they were blessed with three children: Tammi, David and Cindi.  That union would later be dissolved and Shannon would find a second love, Gerald ‘Jerry’ Eggen.  Jerry and Shannon were joined together in marriage on October 4, 1978 in Stillwater, Minnesota.  They were blessed with a dog, Cuddlebug, that most would consider one of their children.

Shannon adored time with her family.  She and Jerry were fortunate enough to host an exchange student from Panama, Antonio Rene Alvorado.  Antonio and Shannon have kept in touch over the past 30 years and he has been an important part of her life. Shannon was a talented seamstress and took pride in the many items of clothing she sewed for her girls when they were growing up.   She loved traveling, and her favorite place to visit was Branson, Missouri.  She really enjoyed the winters spent in Arizona with Jerry, where they met so many new friends and she was a proud member of the Red Hat Ladies.   Shannon was a lover of playing games and a fierce card player.   When you were going to Shannon’s house for a visit, you always knew it was going to involve a game or two of cards.

Shannon is survived by her loving husband, Gerald ‘Jerry’ Eggen; daughters, Tammi Clicquennoi of Hammond, WI and Cindi and her husband Greg Steinmetz of Hammond, WI; Antonio Alvorado of Panama; grandchildren, Dustin Boser, Shannon Clicquennoi, Kaylee and her husband Mike Wink, DJ Steinmetz and his partner Alex Swenson, Michael Steinmetz and his girlfriend Heidi Hoolihan; great-grandchildren, Tristen Wink, Kaden Wink; sisters Lois Butler, Barbara and her husband Ray Reha; brother-in-law Tom Walsh; sisters-in-law Maria Butler, Annabelle Butler; her dog Cuddlebug, as well as other countless relatives and friends. Shannon was preceded in death by her infant son, David Brathol; parents William and Lucile Butler; sisters, Mary Butler, Frances Shinnick, Rose Ann Walsh; brothers, Richard Butler, William Butler; brother-in-law, Robert Gardner.

Shannon was a joyful presence, a dedicated wife, a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend.  She will be so incredibly missed by many.

Funeral mass for Shannon will be 10:30AM Wednesday June 27th at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Hammond. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday June 26th from 4pm to 7pm at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home in Baldwin as well as one hour prior to the mass at church Wednesday morning. Memorials are preferred.
