Sharon was born on September 5, 1948 in Chula Vista, California; the daughter of Donald and Mildred (Booker) Tolner. She was raised in Chula Vista where she graduated from high school. In 1968, she was married to Donald Fenton in Winterhaven, California. To this union four children would be born; Donald, Jonathan, April, and Cheryl. This union would later dissolve.
