Shelby Swanson

Shelby J. Swanson, age 76 of Centuria, formerly of Hudson died Saturday, September 28th 2019 at Sophie’s Manor in Centuria. Shelby was born on May 16, 1943 in Stillwater, MN; the daughter of Francis and Florence Kees. She attended St. Patrick’s Parochial School prior to graduating from Hudson High School in the class of 61’. For a short time, she worked as a bookkeeper for 3M as she was a gifted in mathematics. But following her dream of helping others, she became certified as a nurse’s aid. She worked in Centuria and St. Croix Falls nursing homes during her career. She was married to Dale E. Swanson, which would later end in divorce.
She thoroughly enjoyed fishing. Something about its tranquility and peaceful setting gave her great pleasure. She also enjoyed the sport of curling.
Shelby is survived by her sister Nanette (Rick) Sobaski of Inver Grove Heights, niece and nephew Sueann (Kevin) Coan of Inver Grove Heights, Christopher (Ericka) Sobaski of Cannon Falls; aunt Mavis Siegel of Hudson, and special friend Julie Ann Bibeau of Centuria. Her parents precede her in death.
Funeral service for Shelby will be 11AM, Friday October 4th at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home in Hudson. Visitation will be one hour prior. Memorials preferred. Burial will be in the St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery. Funeral services entrusted to the O’Connell Family Funeral Homes.
