Shirley M. Nelson, age 85, of Hudson, WI, died on February 7, 2023 at Comforts of Home in Hudson.
Shirley was born on June 10, 1937 in Deer Park, WI to William and Alice (Kohlrusch) Thompson. She attended school in Deer Park until 8th grade and graduated from New Richmond High School in 1955. On June 22, 1957, she was united in marriage to Duane Nelson, a marriage that would be blessed with two daughters.
For much of her early career, Shirley was in the finance world, working at various banks throughout St. Croix County, until transitioning to real estate. She was a realtor for many years with Edina Reality in Hudson, and thoroughly enjoyed the many clients she worked with over the years. When her kids were young, she loved being a scout and cookie mother with Girl Scouts and spending time together at their cabin near Clayton boating and fishing. Shirley also enjoyed her time in the Red Hat Society, participating in their many activities up until moving to Comforts of Home.
She is survived by her children, Roxanne Nelson and Lisa Nelson; siblings, Linda (Jim) Fouks and Roland “Pete” (Janice) Thompson; sisters-in-law, Sharon Thompson and Bev Benson; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Duane; brother, Doug Thompson; and parents.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Sunday, February 12, 2023 at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home, 520 S. 11th St., Hudson. Funeral Service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 13, 2023 at United Methodist Church, 1401 Laurel Ave., Hudson with a visitation held one hour prior to the service at church. Interment at Willow River Cemetery.

I am so sorry to hear of the Death of Shirley… I knew her well! I send thoughts and prayers to her family at this sad time….
