Stephanie M. McSorley, age 56 of Hudson, passed away September 23, 2017 surrounded by her family at Regions Hospital in St. Paul. Stephanie was born June 30, 1961 in Hudson, the daughter of David (Mary) Smith. She graduated from Hudson High School, the Class of 1979. She was united in marriage on August 22, 1981 to Marc McSorley. Their marriage was blessed with three children, Michael, Anne, and Philip. Stephanie began working for Liberty State Bank in St. Paul in 1981 as a teller, and continued her career there working in customer service for nearly 18 years. She also worked with KLB Insurance Services as an agent for 10 years. 

Family was everything to Stephanie. She was a devoted and loving wife and mom to her children. Her caring ways, bright smile and positive attitude was always present, even in her final days. She enjoyed traveling, and especially delighted in the East Coast and souvenirs from one of her favorite destinations, The Hard Rock Cafe. When the children were young, camping trips brought great adventures and memories for her family. She treasured her dear friends, and traveling with her GNO Club. Bonfires, barbecues, shopping, and time with family and friends brought much joy to Stephanie’s heart. She appreciated the beauty of nature and had a natural talent for flower gardening.

Stephanie will remain in the hearts of her loving husband, Marc; her children, Mike McSorley (Sarah Reas) of Hudson, Anne McSorley (fiancé, Antonio Kuklok) of Maple Grove, MN, and Philip (fiancé, Morgan VanHeukelom) of River Falls; mother, Mary Smith of Hudson; siblings: Teresa (Jeff) Anderson of Hudson, Beth (Ron) Houman of Hudson, Greg Smith of Hudson, Brian (Kim) Smith of Blaine, MN, and Ben (Dana) Smith of Portland, OR; sister-in-law, Mary Smith; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, David Smith; and brother, Chris Smith.

A Gathering of Family and Friends will take place 5-8 PM Wednesday, September 27 at O’Connell Family Funeral Home, 520 S. 11th St., Hudson, and one hour prior to the Mass on Thursday. Mass of Christian Burial 11 AM Thursday, September 28 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 1500 Vine St., Hudson, with Fr. John Gerritts officiating. Urn bearers assisting with the services will be Stephanie’s siblings, Teresa, Beth, Greg, Brian, and Ben. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
