Stephen P. Rondeau

Stephen Paul Rondeau, age 70, passed away on Monday, September 10, 2018 at Westfields Hospital in New Richmond. Steve was born on October 4, 1947 in St. Paul to Raymond and Mary (Minnichsoffer) Rondeau. He attended Harding High School and went on to graduate from St. Paul TVI and Dunwoody. He was an IT Tech for Univac for 10 years before becoming a union sheet metal worker with local 10. He met and fell in love with Jan (Janette) Meyer Nelson and they were united in marriage on October 20, 1984 bringing together their children to create one big fun loving family.

Steve had an artist’s soul with an engineer’s mind. He enjoyed creating and building with paint, fabric, wood and metal. He had a true appreciation for the Rocky Mountains where he lived for several years with Jan. Steve would hike the trails weekly all year long, incuding snow shoeing in the winter while at the same time capturing its beauty with photos. He was also known as a jokester and could never resist an opportunity to tell one of his famous “dad jokes”. He loved to sing and play the guitar.

He is survived by his loving wife, Jan; children Michelle (Mark) Zitur of Woodbury, Angela Rondeau of Alaska, Allyson (Robert Casseday) McDonald of Hammond and Amanda Rondeau of St. Paul; grandchildren Stephanie (Mike), Samantha, Alexander, Morgan and Amber; great-grandchildren Aiden, Genevieve, Emmet, Oliver and Owen; siblings Richard Rondeau of New Richmond, Gerald (Bonnie) Rondeau of Breezy Point, Dawain (Jan) Rondeau of Forest Lake, Mary Ann Gockowski of Oakdale, Elaine (David) Fry of Newport, Beverly (Joe) Piermantier of Hastings and mother-in-law Genevieve Meyer of St. Joseph.

Stephen is preceded in death by his parents; daughter-in-heart Ericka Stewart; brother and sister-in-laws Joseph E. Gockowski and Barbara Rondeau; father-in-law Roy Meyer.
