Stephen W Coy

Stephen William Coy, age 44, of Deer Park, Wisconsin died on Wednesday May 23, 2012.  Steve was born on June 26, 1967 in Salem, Ohio and attended Salem Senior High School (Class 1985).

Steve immediately enlisted and proudly served in the United States Navy for 14 years including a tour of duty in the Gulf War.  In addition to earning the ‘Sailor of the Year’ award, Steve also earned numerous other honors, medals, awards and commendations while serving aboard the USS Nimitz, the USS George Washington, USS John F. Kennedy and USS Whidbey Island Aircraft Carriers. Steve was a devoted husband and father.  He furthered his accomplishments by graduating from Chippewa Valley Technical College with a degree in Ultrasound. He also served on the Deer Park Library Board and was an active volunteer at Amery Schools and Pam’s Dance Studio as well as many other community outreaches.   He was an employee at Trader Joes in Woodbury, MN.

Steve is survived by his beloved wife Juli and their two sons Sabin (13) and Galen (11) of Deer Park, Wisconsin.  He is also survived by his loving mother Gayle Parker Coy of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas, his father Robert (Pat) Coy of Salem, Ohio and his brother Scott (Megan) of Sarasota, Florida, Mother-in-law Dorothy (Harold) George of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas. Brothers-in-law Richard (Sarah) Manser of Minneapolis, MN, and David (Stephanie) Manser of Newport Beach, CA, Sisters-in-law, Elisa Coy of Fort Myers, FL, Lori (Gary) Lacy of Sheboygan, WI and Lynn Shovan, Elkhart Lake, WI, many nieces and nephews and dear friends.  He was preceded in death by his brother Daniel Patrick Coy.

Services for Steve will be held at 6pm on Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at the O’Connell Funeral Home in Baldwin, WI.  A Military Salute in honor of Steve will take place at 7pm.  Visitation will take place from 1:00pm until 6:00pm.  In lieu of flowers, memorials given will be donated by the family to a suicide prevention organization.  Also, a college fund has been established in the children’s names at Bremer Bank.  Services are in the care of the O’Connell Family Funeral Home – Baldwin Chapel.  715.684.3434
