Steven Alan Brathol passed away unexpectedly on February 13, 2022, at Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park, MN. Steve was born on April 6, 1954 in Baldwin, WI, to parents Raymond and Eulaine (Forsythe) Brathol. He graduated from St. Croix Central High School in 1972 and continued his education at WITC. Steve worked in IT support at Securian Financial in St. Paul.

He married his high school sweetheart Suzanne Frank on June 2, 1973 and together they were blessed with three sons. He was a devoted husband to his wife and loved spending time with his grandchildren, especially attending their school and sporting events; family was the most important thing to Steve. You could often find him working in his garage or watching a Brewers, Packers, or Badgers game, but his favorite place to be was out fishing on the lake. He particularly enjoyed ice fishing. He will be remembered for his witty humor, generous heart and willingness to help anyone in need.

He will remain in the hearts of his loving wife Suzanne; children Cory Brathol, Jeremy Brathol (Tara), and Eric Brathol (Michelle); grandchildren Brevon, Brianna, Bennett, Jaxon, Addison, and Taylar; siblings Don Brathol, Linda (Wes) Halle, Diane (Al) Nielsen, Doug (Shelly) Brathol; brothers and sisters-in-laws Daryl (Susan) Frank, Mike (Dory) Frank, Luanne Gerhardt, Ed (Christine) Frank, Patti (Todd) Criego, and Missy (Mike) Gruenes, as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents Raymond and Eulaine Brathol, father and mother-in-law Harland and Stella Frank, sisters-in-laws Patricia Brathol and Barb Frank, brother-in-law Al Gerhardt, and niece Sammie Criego.

A service to honor Steve’s life will be held on Sunday, February 20, 2022 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hammond, Wisconsin. The service will begin at 2:00 p.m. with a visitation one hour prior to the service. A visitation will also be held the evening prior on Saturday, February 19, 2022 from 2:00 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. also at Trinity Lutheran Church. The Family asks that you please wear a mask at both the visitation and funeral service for the safety of all visitors. If you are unable to attend you can watch Steve’s service live here.

    • Nancy and I were deeply saddened to hear of Steve’s passing. We send our sincere condolences to Suzanne and the family and pray that God will strengthen you all during this difficult time. I have fond memories of Steve. He and I were teammates in football and basketball at St. Croix Central in Jr. High and High School. Steve, Steve DeSmith and I were known as “The Fearsome Threesome” on the basketball court. Even after all these years, I still have memories of some of those intense “close” games. I will always cherish those times playing alongside of Steve!
