Sylvia M. (Nee Dutton) Hamblin

Sylvia M Hamblin (nee: Dutton), age 91, of Hudson WI, formerly a longtime resident of Atlanta GA, passed away on June 9, 2011 at the Christian Community Home in Hudson. She was born on September 1, 1919 in Bolton, Lancaster, England to Alice and Joseph Dutton. Her family immigrated to the United States in 1923. Sylvia was raised and graduated from high school in Beckley, West Virginia.

On May 2, 1943 she was united in marriage to Lt. Paul W. Hamblin of Millsboro, Delaware. They enjoyed 66 years of marriage. Col. Hamblin and Sylvia spent 30 years in military service traveling with several assignments in Europe, Burma, Vietnam and military bases in the United States. Upon his retirement in 1973, Sylvia and Paul settled in Atlanta, GA where they would spend the next 36 years. Col. Hamblin preceded in her death on January 4, 2009, after which Sylvia moved to Hudson, WI to be closer to family.

She is survived by her son, Paul and daughter-in-law, Katherine Hamblin of Hudson, WI; grandson Paul W. Hamblin III of Hudson, WI; sisters-in-law, Marian Dutton of Bloomington, MN and Lois Dutton of Beckley, WV; brother-in-law, John Hamblin and wife, Josephine of Georgetown, DE; and nieces & nephews. Sylvia will be laid to rest next to her husband in Arlington National Cemetery. Services have been entrusted to the O’Connell Family Funeral Home of Hudson, 715-386-3725.
