Sylvia Sophie Kuether

d. January 2, 2023

Sylvia Sophie Kuether (94) beloved wife and mother died peacefully on Wednesday January 2nd at her home surrounded by her husband and family. Sylvia was born on June 20, 1924 in Little Chute, Wisconsin to Peter and Martha Janssen. She had two sisters, Marianne and Rosemary, and nine brothers, Don, Gary, Joe, Ken, Les, Orville, Paul, Pete and Romy.
Early in her marriage she worked as a Lab Assistant at Madison General Hospital but her home and her family were the center of Sylvia’s life. In addition to raising her three children she was also a foster mother to many newborns. She enjoyed homemaking and was an excellent cook and baker and a master of needlepoint tapestry. She enjoyed gardening and working outdoors, traveling and spending time with Ted at their cabin in Northern Wisconsin. She was also a self- taught harmonica player. Sylvia very successfully spent most of her life helping others make their lives better and will be deeply missed by all of us that were blessed with her in our lives.
She is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Ted; children, Kim (Alfredo) Pou of Miami, FL, David of Roberts, WI, Vicki (Mike) Toy of Bear, DE; grandsons, Alex, Daniel, Gabriel and Julian, great-grandchildren, Chloe and Nathan; many nieces and nephews.
The family is grateful for the support and kindness of many friends and family and for the excellent care Sylvia received during her stay at Wellhaven Senior Care. Thank you to Megan C. and Millie H. for the bright spot you both brought to Sylvia’s life (Teds too) with her home care. Thank you to Heartland Hospice Care (nurse Lisa C. and all) for the exceptional care and kindness you gave Sylvia when she needed it most. Thank you to Father Harris of St. Bridget Catholic Church for your prayers and guidance through this very difficult time for our family.
A service will be determined at a later date.
