Terry Felland passed away on Tuesday morning August 6, 2024 at the age of 83. Born in St. Croix Falls, WI on October 15, 1940, Terry was the son of Glenn and Catherine Felland.
Terry graduated from St. Croix Fall High School in 1958 and attended UW-Madison to study accounting. He started his career at 3M a week after graduating from Madison in 1962, serving in various management roles, before retiring in 1997 and fully embracing his free time and travel with family and friends.
In his free time, Terry could be found on the sidelines and audiences watching his children’s and later grandchildren’s activities. He coached baseball and softball teams and became highly involved with the Hudson Hockey Association. Despite having never played, the game grabbed hold of him and became an arena for him to offer his planning, management, leadership and perhaps most importantly, social skills. From near the Association’s infancy he became, and remained until his passing, a fixture at the Hudson hockey arena. He also volunteered with his wife at the Fresh Harvest Pantry in Hudson.
An outdoor enthusiast, he enjoyed time in Grantsburg, WI at the cabin he helped build with his dad and friends. Time at camp involved hunting, fishing and canoeing the St. Croix River. Days at the sugar shack making maple syrup in the spring was another labor of love up north. Over the years it seems he earned “local” status in Grantsburg.
Terry was an avid reader and no day was complete without reading the daily paper. His sharp intellect and quick wit were well known amongst friends and family. Honest and fair, Terry was valued for his sensibility and integrity. In his mind, only sound logic and good reason were equal in value to the power of numbers.
He will be remembered by his wife of 58 years Bonnie, children Barb Whiting, Peter (Sara) Felland, Jeff (Tracey) Felland, grandchildren Jessica Whiting, Max Felland, Amina and Iver Felland, sisters Kathy (Pat) Cody and Gail Felland, Aunt Irma Felland, and nieces and nephews.
Terry’s life will be remembered at his funeral at 11:00 Saturday August 10 at First Presbyterian Church, 1901 Vine Street. Visitation will take place one hour before the service at the church. A Celebration of Life at the Hudson Sports and Civic Center, 1820 Hanley Road will follow the service from 12:00 to 3:00. Come for camaraderie, refreshments and ice skating (helmets required)!
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Hudson Hockey Association or a charity of your choice.
***********Please note that Vine Street in front of the church remains under construction. Church access during this time is from Grandview Avenue, turning West on Vine Street, and briefly driving through the construction area to reach the church driveway and parking lot.***********
