Thomas Weaver Blake, age 75 of Hudson, passed away February 7, 2014 at the WI Veterans Home in Chippewa Falls, WI. Thomas was born May 29, 1938 in Abbottsford, WI; the son of Melvin and Rachel (Weaver) Blake. Tom graduated from P. J. Jacobs High School in Stevens Point in 1956 and he also graduated from the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point, obtaining a Bachelors of Science degree in 1960. Tom served his country with the Wisconsin National Guard during the Berlin Conflict. On May 18, 1963 he married Nancy Rae Olingy and their marriage was blessed with four children: Andrea, Allison, Bradley and Bryan. Tom worked as a credit manager in Milwaukee for Commercial Credit Corporation. In 1964, he moved to Hudson, WI and joined Montgomery Ward in the Twin Cities where he worked as an area credit manager for over 25 years, retiring in 1989. During retirement he worked with the family business, Fit To Be Tied, hosting the company at teacher’s conventions in 20 different states.

Tom was a devoted Green Bay Packer fan and season ticket holder for over 40 years. He was an outdoorsman who took pleasure in fishing and his many fishing trips to Canada. He thoroughly enjoyed seven summers he spent with his daughter, son-in-law and family, farming in the Swiss Alps. Tom also loved music, especially music from the 30’s, 40’s and 50’s era. He had a strong faith in his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and loved praying for people to be healed by the Lord.  He enjoyed reading his Bible and Christian books as a daily devotion.

 He was most proud to have celebrated 50 years of marriage to Nancy and was overjoyed that his life long friend and groomsman, Wilson Scribner, and special Army buddy, Jay Tanner from New York, attended their 50th Wedding Anniversary celebration last summer.

Tom was a loving husband, father and grandfather, who will be dearly missed.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy; children, Andrea (David) Norris of Hudson, Allison (Daniel) von Siebenthal of Switzerland and Bradley Blake of Austin, TX; grandchildren: Benjamin and Joseph Norris, Michael and Rachel von Siebenthal, Hannah Blake and Brittany (Justin) Blake Jensen; sister, Lois (Rev. Arthur) Becker; and his beloved dog, Rodie the dachshund. He was preceded in death by his son, Bryan; brother, Dr. Bradley Blake; son-in-law, David Norris; and his parents.

A Gathering of Family and Friends will take place 4-7 PM Friday, February 14, 2014 at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home of Hudson, 520 S. 11th St., and one hour prior to the service at church. A Memorial Service will take place 2PM Saturday, February 15, 2014 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Hudson, with Fr. Guy Usher officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be:  Bradley Blake, Todd Hein, Wilson Scribner, Charles Alderman, Dean Moberg and Jay Tanner. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
