Thomas Hines

Thomas Ernest Hines, age 82 of Ellsworth, died peacefully November
18, 2021 at his residence with his wife Mary Ann by his side. Tom
was born on January 11, 1939 in El Paso, Wisconsin; the son of
Walter and Avis (Smith) Hines. He attended elementary school in Lost
Creek before attending Ellsworth High School. On August 2, 1958, he
was united in marriage to Mary Ann Peterson at Immaculate
Conception of St. Mary Catholic Church in Lost Creek. To this union,
two children were blessed; Candi and Fred.
Tom was an over the road truck driver his entire life. He did straight
runs hauling cattle early on before driving semi for companies such as
Dahlen Transport and Pioneer Tank Lines. Sadly, a stroke shortened
his career earlier than he would have wanted. After retiring, he
enjoyed sitting around listening to a brewer game or Moose Country
Radio. As a young man, he enjoyed fishing and hunting with his
brothers. At the end of his life, a cup of coffee and watching the birds
brought him peace.
Tom is survived by his wife of 63 years Mary Ann; children Candi
(Alan) Dickinson, Fred (Teri) Hines; grandchildren Krista (Jeff)
Hines, Jake Bartow; great grandchild Natalie; siblings Jim (Elaine),
Mike (Mary), Pat, Tony (Kathy), Steve (Elise), Scott (Joanne), Dixie
(Doug) Raeshler, Trudy (Gary) Young, Mary (Mike) Metcalf; as well
as a host of nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by a stillborn
daughter Cheryl; brothers Wilbur ‘Bill’, Duncan, Rick Hines; and
sister-in-law Nancy Hines.
Mass of Christian Burial for Tom Hines will be 2pm, Saturday
November 27th at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Ellsworth.                          The service will be livestreamed to: https://youtu.be/W47lCPA4_8w.
Visitation will be from noon until 2pm prior to the service at church
Saturday afternoon. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Memorials
preferred to the discretion of the family. Funeral services entrusted to
the O’Connell Family Funeral Home of Ellsworth.
