Thomas A. Kovacic, age 66 of Hudson WI, and formerly of Sheboygan WI and Midland MI, died on Sunday, October 3, 2010 at United Hospital in St. Paul MN. Tom was born on March 25, 1944 in Sheboygan WI to parents John and Josephine (Cerpich) Kovacic. Tom attended Sts. Cyril & Methodius Catholic School in Sheboygan through the 8th grade, and went on to graduate from Sheboygan High School. Tom furthered his education at the University of Wisconsin, earning his bachelors degree in Chemical Engineering. On September 3, 1966, Tom would be united in marriage to Karen M. Kibbel. Their union in marriage would be blessed with two sons, Christopher and David.
Tom worked as a chemical engineer for the Dow Corning Company, spending most of his career in Midland MI. He enjoyed many hobbies, including stamp collecting, computers, and photography. Tom also had a passion for brewing his own beer. Together with his wife Karen, Tom loved to travel the world to places like Australia, China, Thailand, and Europe. Tom even had the chance to trace his family ancestry back to Slovenia, where he was able to see his family’s farm.
Tom is survived by his wife of 44 years, Karen; sons Christopher (Julie) Kovacic, and David Kovacic; granddaughters, Georgia, Michelle, and Renee; grandsons Johnathon, Joshua, and Jeremy; sister-in-law Mary Ann Kovacic; brother, Ted (Karla) Kovacic; mother-in-law, Marian Kibbel; brothers-in-law, Larry (Carol) Kibbel, and Harlow (Nancy) Kibbel; as well as numerous other relatives and friends. Tom was preceded in death by his parents, John and Josephine; and a brother, John.
Mass of Christian Burial for Thomas A. Kovacic will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, October 7, 2010 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 1500 Vine Street, Hudson with Rev. Fr. Dan Dahlberg, and Rev. Fr. Richard Cerpich officiating. Burial will follow at St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery in Hudson. Visitation will be held one hour prior to mass at church. Memorials preferred.
