Tom Frye

Thomas Jerome “Tom” Frye, age 49 of Hudson WI, died on Tuesday, August 3rd, 2010 at the University of Minnesota Medical Center after a lengthy battle with cancer. Tom was born September 30th, 1960 in Hudson WI to parents Jerome and Gaye (Iverson) Frye. Tom attended schools in Hudson, and graduated from Hudson High School with the Class of 1979. Tom was proud to have served his country in the United States Air Force. Tom later earned a degree from Dakota County Technical College. Tom worked for many years with the Peoples Electric Company of St. Paul MN where he worked in the field, and served as a service manager for the last ten years with their Communications and Data Services group.

On May 8th, 1993 at the Bethel Lutheran Church in Hudson, Tom would be united in marriage to Karen Beth Gilbertson. Their union in marriage would be blessed with two boys. Tom loved being a dad to Austin and Conner, and being involved in their lives. Tom could be found enjoying the outdoors as a fisherman, a deer hunter, a camper, a snowmobiler, and a snow skier. Tom was known to cheer for the Green Bay Packers, and established some deep rooted rivalries with his Minnesota co-workers over the years, but Tom was an even bigger fan of his sons and the sports they were involved in. Tom will be remembered as a wonderful husband, dad, son, brother, uncle, and friend, and will be missed by all who knew him.

 Tom is survived by his wife Karen; his sons, Austin and Conner; his parents, Jerry and Gaye; his siblings, Tim Frye, Tracy (Denny) Bjornstad, Tammy (Scott) Hayes and Todd Frye; nieces, Angie Amundson, Veronica and Nichole Frye and nephews, Adam, Brandon and Corey Bjornstad, and Jake and Alex Hayes; godparents, Howard(Marion)Frye; sister-in-law, Jody (“Monk”) Amundson; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and good friends. Tom was preceded in death by his grandparents Gjardar (Grace) Iverson, and Edmund (Anna) Frye; and parents-in-law, Jack (Janet) Gilbertson.

 Memorial Services for Tom Frye will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 7th, 2010 at the Bethel Lutheran Church, 920 3rd Street, Hudson WI. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at church, and also from 4:00-8:00 PM on Friday, August 6th at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home in Hudson. A private burial with full military honors will be held at a later date at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery. Services have been entrusted to the O’Connell Family Funeral Home of Hudson WI, and the Countryside Crematory of Baldwin WI. 715-386-3725
