Tresa Evelyn O’Malley, age 74 of Hudson, WI, passed away December 1, 2015 at Regions Hospital in St. Paul.  Tresa was born November 8, 1941 in Jacksonville, FL, the daughter of Henry and Helen (Lavin) McCarthy.  She was united in marriage on May 18, 1962 to James Francis O’Malley.  Their marriage was blessed with four children, Catherine, Tricia, James and Shirley.  Tresa provided for her family as a homemaker, raising and taking wonderful care of her children and husband.  After her children were grown, Tresa enjoyed her time working as a retail manager for Tom Thumb and Kmart.  

In her quiet time, Tresa enjoyed crocheting, reading cooking magazines and cookbooks.   In her earlier years, she was well entertained by playing bridge with friends.  She delighted in shopping and was thrilled to find a good bargain.  Tresa was fond of gardening and appreciated canning her bounty of garden vegetables and making salsa.  She was an amazing cook and baker, and delighted in the holidays making Christmas cookies for her family.  Anyone who knew Tresa, knew she very much enjoyed drinking Coca-Cola, and was rarely seen without one.  She was quite the story teller, whose stories sure touched the hearts of those around her. She was a devoted Green Bay Packer fan, who was proud to cheer on her team.  Most important to Tresa was her family, she especially adored spending time with her grandchildren.  

She was preceded in death by her son, James T. O’Malley; and her parents.  Tresa will remain in the hearts of her husband of 53 years, James “Jim”; her children, Catherine (Wes) Western, Tricia (Darryl) Rongitsch and Shirley (Jordan) Erdman; daughter-in-law, Laurie O’Malley (James T.); grandchildren:  Shane, Olivia, Jimmy, Adam, Kelly, Sarah, Jessica (Leslie), Bridget (Melissa) and Julia; sister, Nancy Jean Tarr; and numerous nieces and nephews. 

A Visitation will take place 4:00 – 7:00 PM, with a 6:45 PM Prayer Service, Friday, December 4th at O’Connell Family Funeral Home, 520 W. 11th St., Hudson, and 1 hr prior to Mass at church.  Mass of Christian Burial will take place 11:00 AM Saturday, December 5th at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 1500 Vine St., Hudson, with Fr. John Gerritts officiating.  Interment will take place at St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery in Hudson.
