Troy Petersen

Troy Anthony Petersen, age 53 of Hastings, Minnesota passed away on November 26, 2021 at United Hospital in St. Paul following a battle with Covid. Troy was born on October 1, 1968 in St. Paul, MN to William and Roxann (Partlow) Petersen. He graduated from Humboldt High School in 1987, and continued his education by earning several Associates degrees by taking classes at Metro State University, Brown College, and DCTC. Troy worked as a truck driver and later turned his focus to an IT career. He currently worked in IT at the trucking firm TLI in Oakdale, MN. Troy was united in marriage to Marissa Netz on August 10, 2001. He was blessed with two sons with Marissa and one son from a previous relationship. Troy was proud of his boys and truly loved his family, even-though he resisted their hugs.

Troy was fond of riding motorcycles but over time his passion was channeled into off-roading with his Jeep, Mjölnir. He would proudly keep his Jeep muddy for a few days before washing off the proof of his adventures. Troy was always up to try new things which led to his attempts to play guitar, create some wonderful cross stitch creations (including some playfully vulgar ones!), experimenting with his BBQ pellet smoker, boating, agate hunting and kayaking to name a few. He was a fish tank enthusiast and was always on the lookout for a larger tank. Troy was best described by his family as a nerd and had a not so secret appreciation for the music of Taylor Swift. Though he was quiet, he was also extremely analytical and smart. He enjoyed computer games, trolling and Meme Wars with his friends online and watching Mystery Science Theater 3000.

Troy will remain in the hearts of his wife of 20 years, Marissa; sons, Dakota Anderson, and Alex and Joe Petersen; granddaughter, Isabella; mother-in-law, Sandra Netz; sisters-in-law, Peggy Evans, Lacey (James) Jafolla, and Stephanie Netz; niece, Lauren Netz; and several aunts, uncles and cousins and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Lee; father-in-law, Michael Netz, Sr.; and brother-in-law, Michael Netz, Jr.

A gathering of family and friends to celebrate Troy’s life will be held from 2:00-4:00 p.m., with a memorial service following at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, December 3, 2021 at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home, 520 S. 11th St., Hudson, WI. Masks required.
