Verlyn Benoy

Verlyn Benoy age 87, of Clear Lake, died Friday, February 22, 2019, at the Amery Hospital. Verlyn was born on October 4, 1931 in Hudson; the son of Kenneth and Alice (Baker) Benoy. He was raised in Hudson where he graduated from high school in the class of 49’. Following high school, he enlisted in the armed forces where he proudly services in the United States Marines during the Korean War. On May 31, 1952, he was united in marriage to Catherine Kemp at the United Methodist Church in Hudson. This union would be further blessed with four children.

Verlyn worked as a dedicated employee of Norlake Refrigeration for many years prior to his retirement in 1992. Verlyn loved spending time time with family. Growing up on a farm taught him many valuable life lessons; a good work ethic and a close family. He had a great appreciation for the outdoors whether it be on a calm lake fishing, or fighting the weeds in his gardens.

Verlyn will forever live on in the hearts of his wife of 66 years Catherine; children Deborah (Zane) Bollom of New Richmond ,  Sherry (Randy) Roth of Florida, Kristine (Cheryl Shultz) Benoy of Ellsworth , Eugene  (Lucy)Benoy of Texas; brother, Arlyn Benoy of Hudson, 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, and brother Wayne Benoy.

A memorial Service for Verlyn will be held on Saturday March 2nd at 11:00 AM at United Methodist Church in Clear Lake. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at church on Saturday. Burial with full military honors will be in the Northern Wisconsin Veteran’s Cemetery in Spooner, WI. Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers to the veteran cemetery. Funeral services entrusted to the O’Connell Family Funeral Homes.
