Verna Louise Paulsen, age 81 lived almost her entire lifetime in New Richmond, has passed away peacefully on Monday evening, October 3, 2016 at the Baldwin Care Center. Verna was born August 19, 1935 in Chetek WI to parents Peter and Olivia (Petersen) Matsen. Verna attended the Oakland School, and graduated from Chetek High School.

Verna was a homemaker who worked to care for her family and she opened her home to everyone. She also worked outside the home as a baker and a bookkeeper. Verna enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, camping, traveling and the occasional round of golf. Verna is survived by her loving son and daughter, Jason Paulsen; and Olivia (Mathison) Rockacy (Richard); and her grandson Adam Jason Rockacy; nephews, James A. (Darla) Colvard, Wayne Nispel, Randy Petre, and Bryan (Karen) Petre; nieces, Linda (Gary) Buckholz and Susan Vancamp; and other relatives and many friends.

A Memorial Service for Verna Paulsen will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday October 16th, 2016 at the First Lutheran Church at 218 County Road K in New Richmond, WI. A private family burial was held at the Lakeview Cemetery in Chetek WI. Cremation services provided by the O’Connell Family Funeral Home in Baldwin, WI.
