Vernon “Bud” Ista

Vernon E. “Bud” Ista, age 84 of Baldwin passed away peacefully on January 25, 2025

Bud relished tending his flower garden and nurturing plants on his welcoming front porch. Music was his lifeblood, and he could often be found skillfully playing the guitar, keyboard, piano, or accordion, filling the air with joy and laughter. He enjoyed shopping trips, garage sales, and swimming whenever he could. He could often be found painting houses, fishing, or enjoying a backyard BBQ while surrounded by loved ones. His warmth and generosity saw him helping neighbors without hesitation and offering a kind ear to anyone in need.

He will be dearly missed by his children Jodie (Scott) Arjes, and Karin (Kurt) Komro; grandchildren Kyle Arjes, Kristin (Zelani) Miah, Kadin Komro; great-grandchildren Grayce, Gabe, Grabriani, Treyanna, Arion, Dejah; sister Marge Kunkel.

Bud was preceded in death by wife Jana (nee Kiekhoefer), brothers Raymond & Wayne Ista.

Visitation 2:30-3:30 PM with Memorial Service 3:30 PM Friday Feb. 7 at O’Connell Funeral Home, 1010 Newton St. Baldwin. Inurnment Woodside Cemetery.
