Vicki Lee Nelson, age 77, of Ellsworth, Wisconsin, passed away on Thursday, December 12, 2024, at the Ellsworth Care Center following a courageous battle with cancer. Vicki was born on February 25, 1947, in Red Wing, Minnesota, the daughter of Kenneth and Dorothy (Barr) Imhoff. She was raised in Ellsworth, where she graduated from high school with the class of 1965. She welcomed her daughter Bobbie Jo in 1966 who was the light of her life. She continued her education at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls, earning a bachelor’s degree in Art Education. On March 16, 1972, she was united in marriage to Dale Francis Nelson at Eidsvold Lutheran Church.

Vicki worked and retired as a computer programmer for the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. She was proud to call Ellsworth her home and was known for her kind spirit, always quick to share a smile or extend a helping hand in any way she could. As an artist, she found joy in taking Priscilla Hauser Tole painting classes, which became a meaningful way for her to express herself. She shared her gifts with others through decorative painting and was honored to have her ornament design be picked by Laura Bush for the White House Christmas tree in 2004. As a member of the National Decorative Painting Society, she formed many cherished friendships. In later years, she enjoyed quilting and gifting away baby blankets to the needy in the Twin Cities. She loved being around others and created many memories and laughs while joining in on her monthly card dates with her gal friends and adventures taken on numerous (Chix on Tours) bus trips.

Vicki will forever live in the heart of her husband of 52 years, Dale; her daughter, Bobbie Jo (Kyle) Kulow; her grandchildren, Kylee (Kyle) Weston and Madelyne (Jason) Matteson; great grandchildren Oliver Weston; Hendrix, Harrison & Hayes Matteson; sister, Linda (Gerald) Christiansen; and her nieces and nephews: Kent (Amy) Christiansen, Eva (Keith) Marthaler, and Kurt (Kristie) Christiansen. She was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Dorothy.

Visitation will take place on Wednesday, December 18th from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home in Ellsworth. The Memorial service celebrating the life of Vicki Lee Nelson will be held on Thursday, December 19th at English Lutheran Church in Ellsworth, visitation from 10:00am-11:00am, followed by her Memorial service at 11:00 a.m. In the spirit of her giving heart, feel free to bring a new toy gift for Toys for Tots campaign to be shared with needy families. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Ellsworth. Memorials are preferred to the English Lutheran Church.

Cremation and memorial services have been entrusted to the O’Connell Family Funeral Home of Ellsworth, www.connellfuneralhomes.com, 715-273-4421.
